Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens

Love sitting down to read an engrossing story? If you’re a lover of any kind of fiction, Where the Crawdads Sing should be next on your list! (It might even be a great gift to request for Mother’s Day….)

One thing we love about Where the Crawdads Sing? It has almost everything you could want in one book. A beautiful coming-of-age-story wraps around a murder mystery and a celebration of the Earth and nature. You can tell that Delia Owens is also a wildlife scientist because she truly celebrates nature throughout the book.

Kya Clark is abused and mostly abandoned at a young age, coming to be known as the Marsh Girl in her quiet North Carolina town. She survives for years alone in the marshes that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and learning all about the world immediately around her.

As she grows into a young woman, Kya attracts the attention of two of the boys in her town. Soon Kya opens herself to a new life – until unthinkable heartbreak happens.

This is the kind of book that you’ll struggle to put down, that feels lush and painfully beautiful. We absolutely loved it and think you will, too!
