Headspace Teaches Meditation as an Ancient Practice & Modern Science

Do you spend a lot of time on Netflix, aimlessly scrolling through to find the right movie or TV show? If so, you may have recently seen a few new shows appear on the Most Watched row – Headspace’s Guide to Meditation, Unwind Your Mind, and Guide to Sleep.

These three new series are from Headspace founder Andy Puddicombe. Though Andy originally was in university for a degree in Sports Science, he made the unusual decision to travel to the Himalayas to study meditation instead. It was the beginning of a ten year journey which took him around the world, culminating with ordination as a Tibetan Buddhist monk in Northern India.

Coming back to the world, Andy wanted to help improve the overall health of the world through his decade of experience in meditation. But for Andy, the only way to do that right was through scientific research and data – and thus Headspace was born.

Working with some of the top research institutions in the world, Headspace is an app that guides you through meditation to positively impact your stress levels, focus, and compassion. This year, however, they’ve expanded their content to Netflix to give Netflix users a free taste of the things the app teaches.

Headspace: Guide to Meditation takes a friendly, animated look at the benefits of meditation while offering techniques and guided meditations to jump-start your practice.

Headspace: Unwind Your Mind lets you choose your own mindfulness adventure based on your mood — from stress-relieving meditations to relaxing wind-downs and bedtime stories, it’s customizable to you.

And Headspace: Guide to Sleep teaches you how to sleep better. Each episode unpacks misconceptions, offers friendly tips and concludes with a guided wind-down.

Turn your Netflix habit into something productive! 2020 and 2021 have been difficult years for everyone, no matter your situation, so we absolutely love that Headspace has made this available for Netflix users for free.

Plus, if you find it helpful, you can get a 14 day free trial of their app for more guided meditation exercises.
