Making Real Connections & Friends on Meetup

Have you been wanting to get back out there and meet some new friends? The safe way?

COVID has wreaked havoc on our social lives, and while we’re not quite ready to go back to the way the world was before, we still need to have friends and relationships. I actually used this exact service to find my 55 and Better Social Group and the Denver Cycling Club I’m part of – want to know what it is?

Meetup!

Find Support & Explore Your Interests

For over 20 years, people have used Meetup’s simple service to help them do just that – meet new people! Used as a platform to find and build local communities, Meetup aims to help you meet new people, learn new things, find support, get out of your comfort zone, and pursue your passions – with other like minded people.

One of the great things about Meetup is that it makes it super easy to meet people that you might not normally have a chance to. Find people that want to get out and explore your city with you or get creative. You can even use Meetup to build your professional network to further your career or business idea.

How It Works

When you join Meetup, you can choose to either find an event happening near you (or even virtually!) or find a local group that shares a common interest.

If you’re looking for local friends, Meetup will use your location to find groups in your area. You can see how many people are in the group itself, see what they like to do, and click on their group description to see what they are about, who they’re looking for, and upcoming events they’re hosting.

You can even search just Events to find a local or online event to jump into, helping you to decide if that group is right for you.

Meetup is free and super easy to use! You just need to either Request to Join a group or follow the instructions for going to their next event.

Starting Your Own Group

Not finding something you like? You might start your own! Meetup makes it quick to create your own group and will help you find members, schedule events, and even help you find others to help you host.

If you love getting people together, Meetup is a great tool to help you organize and find people with similar interests who you wouldn’t know otherwise.

Do More of What You Love

That’s one reason I love Meetup – it helps me to do more of what I love to do! The groups I’m in are collaborative, fun, and allow me to drop in and out as my schedule allows. Plus, it’s just great for getting out there and meeting new people!

If you’re looking to make new friends and connections, we think this is a great place to start!
