Codependency and You

Stop what you are doing right now and ask yourself a question. Are you codependent? If you are honest with yourself, your answer may be a tough pill to swallow. Setting boundaries can often be challenging, but the time to regain your life back is now! In her book, Codependent No More, Melody Beattie teaches you how to get back onto the path of happiness. Breaking habits, especially unhealthy ones can be difficult. I’ve seen non-alcoholic drinks all over social media, which is why I decided to put together my favorite non-alcoholic drink options.

A is for Aging

Remember when you thought 30 was old? Our version of “old” was often grumpy and uninteresting people. It’s time to change our attitudes about aging. Lindsey McDivitt is doing just that. On her blog, “A is for Aging,” she reviews children’s books that cover accurate depictions of aging. This is a fun way to learn how to talk about aging with children. Everyone has a story that is worth capturing, the LifeBio app makes it easy to share your past to pave the way for the future.

What Happens At the Dinner table changes the future.

Conversations can change lives, and what better way to get talking than playing games and sharing a delicious meal? Intergenerational dinners allow everyone to relax and share perspectives that are unique to their generation. With the help of the Modern Elder Academy, we can all make a difference in our communities by hosting intergenerational dinners. Generations Over Dinner maps out the dinners and even provides popular topics to discuss, such as love and relationships, purpose, and the future. Janine Vanderburg, whom I interviewed last year, is changing the narrative on aging positively. Conversations about aging are beneficial to everyone and is a topic that can be discussed over the next intergenerational dinner that you host. Spending time with others whether it’s friends, or family is vital for our well-being and mental health.

Starting each day with daily affirmations is a great way to fill your spirit with happiness.
